The nature of a scribe was not only to record the Word of the Lord as spoken by the prophets, but they were also storytellers. They recorded the events which occurred and are the Lord’s mouthpieces for future generations. In order to transfer His spoken word to the next generation, He has chosen to use scribes and the written word.
New Testament scribes are filled with His Spirit and may prophesy, but they are also called to write. They are the Lord’s personal recorders. They write what He speaks. They have no input of their own, they only write the Lord’s dictation.
Before we were married, the Lord spoke to me (Max) one morning as I journaled and He said that He had combined us to fulfill the role of both. When one speaks, the other would record the words spoken and as the scribe writes, more would be given to him to form a complete picture. Since the beginning, we have said that we each have half—half the words, half the prophecy, and half the revelation to build and that without each other we would fail. There would be no success without the complete whole.

The Lord gave us an image of this unique ministry in the form of a loaf of bread, where each prophetic word is a single slice. The one who speaks is like the one who slices the bread, while the one who records and writes spreads the butter. This is how he told us we’d operate and we’ve seen this first hand. The Lord told us that He orchestrated our meeting and our marriage so that each would prophesy and each write. It’s a joint calling and foundation for our marriage where we each add to the other to paint a complete picture. Each one of us has had to learn how to grow in our giftings and callings. This has allowed us to thrive and we are daily encouraging one another to explore the fullness of these gifts in our lives.
This is not only a beautiful picture of marriage, but also an extraordinary picture of how the body of Christ is supposed to operate. If done properly there's nothing that God wont allow you to do. Working with Him as our Boss and Master has been life changing.

This is why our unity is so important. If the scribe is not in unity with the prophet, the word given is incomplete. This is why we are better together. There are times when we both write and we both speak, but the Lord’s primary intention is to capture the spoken and written word for future generations. If we cannot see eye to eye on something then we do not move forward until we hear His voice like two little kids who can’t get along until our Father speaks.
Our number one question is: Lord what are you saying? Our thoughts, opinions, knowledge of the matter doesn’t matter. We are not in charge—He is.
